The version of soccer that has become such a popular game for kids in the US is not just a whittled down version of the rough and tumble game that is so popular in England and South America. In reality, youth soccer includes all games played with the soccer ball. That statement may come as a surprise to most people who are under the impression that the only game kids play in soccer clubs is traditional soccer. But in those sports clubs, even practice routines are played as games.

While professional soccer players devote hours and hours to practicing dribbling the ball with their feet while running, in youth soccer, the coach might make his kids dribble the ball in a straight line from one point of the soccer field to the other. He might record the time it takes for each of the kids to do that and proclaim the one with the fastest record as winner.

Alternatively, the kids might have a contest among themselves as to who can ram the ball with his head the farthest or who can dribble the ball on his knees the longest. As you can see by now, youth soccer includes many derivative games that kids of all ages can play.

On the internet, there are sites where you can read descriptions of derivative soccer games for kids which are based on practice routines. Some of the game routines that you can read are so simple and safe that they can be played in your own backyard, if it is big enough. In fact, it might be a good idea for you, if the kids in your neighborhood are idle on weekends to buy yourself a soccer ball, read up on the simple games that can be played with it on the web and start your own neighborhood soccer club.

That is not to say, however, that people who join youth soccer clubs play only practice games. There are also real soccer games for older youngsters who are eying to participate in soccer league games. Just like baseball and football, soccer for youth also has athletic associations who play against one another in seasonal games.

Throughout the US there are many youth clubs who have teams participating in these games. A great number of these clubs are professionally managed enough to become members of the United States Soccer Federation. That is the organization that manages soccer in the US. The largest individual soccer association in the US is appropriately called US Youth Soccer.

The majority of the million members of this community are volunteers, many of them people who have dedicated themselves to coaching. You can see very well from those statistics that these clubs are usually glad to welcome everyone.

In deference to their many young members, these clubs usually have a distinct sub-groupings to segregate those who play for fun and recreation from those who want to compete in the national league games.

As you can see, anyone can have his kids join these clubs, specifically the US Youth Soccer organization, even if the kids have no serious intentions of becoming professional players later on. The games themselves are great for keeping the kids physically fit. Besides that the chance to interact with other young people with different temperaments and backgrounds is something that can contribute greatly to the psychological and emotional growth of your kids.
